Most companies try to make their new products, smaller, more compact, thinner. Not Nintendo.
Yesterday Nintendo released their brand new Nintendo DSi XL in Japan. What’s so special about it? I
t’s bigger. Yeah, bigger. As you can see from the picture at the right, the screens are substantially larger, 4.2 inches to be exact. The old DSi screen is the size of the dotted line on the bottom screen.
They also made the stylus fatter… for more grippage. I made that word up just now.
This DSi is supposed to be geared toward the older crowed, with their bad eyes, and need for bigger objects to make life easier. Yeah its a good idea, but how many 50+ year olds do you know who play the childish games on the DSi to begin with? Maybe in Japan they do, but not in the United States.
If you want these bigger screens though, expect this bad boy to hit the market in Q1 of 2010 in the U.S. and Europe.

Very fascinating blog publish thank you for writing it I just added your site to my bookmarks and will verify back later
By the way truly is really a tiny off topic but I really like your sites layout.
you suck
A lot of those “older crowd” you refer to were gaming when gaming first started out; so I think there will definitely be a good amount of the “old crowd” buying these types of products!
When this hits the states, It might be a hit, after all, we Americans like it big!
If the system is so much bigger, why don’t they put the Gameboy slot back in?!
Ahh the good ol’ gameboy slot. It is missed so much.
With a bigger screen, the graphics would be even MORE suckier, and that would suck.I would totally not buy this this! Nintendo really wants to try things differently, and they want people to follow and try to steer us away from regualaur things. OH NO!!!NINTENDO IS ATTACKING!!!
Ijust realizied that the screen is bigger than the iPhone’s.So the whole device itself is almost bigger than and Xbox/PS3 controller!?WOW!!
